Course Description
Understanding the unconscious is the foundation of psychodynamic and psychoanalytic therapies. After exploring the basics of the unconscious we will delve into two of Freud’s important concepts: narcissism and its dynamics, and mourning, which introduces the idea of an object relationship.

Describe Freud’s theories about unconscious processes
Compare and contrast primary and secondary narcissism
Recognize the role of the ego in mourning.
