The LAISPS Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program offers a robust curriculum focusing on theory, along with its clinical application. Students learn to work with dreams, primitive mental states, transference and countertransference, and more. In addition, case conference provides an opportunity to get feedback on one's own cases.

This 30-week course begins with a review of psychoanalytic concepts pertaining to substance abuse and eating disorders. We explore the neurobiology of addiction; affect dysregulation and anxious attachment strategies underlying compulsive food and substance use; sexual addiction, gambling, internet, gaming and other high-risk activities.
